Sulzbacher Center Partners with Humane Society to Help Homeless Pets

If you’ve ever been to the Dalton Agency on a Bring-Your-Dog-to-Work Friday, you know that we love our four-legged companions (the pictures that prove it are below). That’s why the Dalton Agency applauds the Sulzbacher Center and the Jacksonville Humane society for their efforts in sheltering homeless pets from our recent freezing temperatures.

A devastating fire destroyed the majority of the Humane Society’s facility in 2007 keeping them from partnering with the Sulzbacher Center due to a lack of space.  However, given the frigid temperatures that are sweeping across the First Coast, the Humane Society decided it was vital to ensure that homeless people and their pets have shelter from the freeze.

“Homeless people are sometimes reluctant to seek shelter because they will not be able to bring their pets with them,” said Audrey Moran, president and CEO of the Sulzbacher Center.  “This partnership gives us the chance to make sure people and their pets are kept safe from freezing temperatures.”

The Jacksonville Humane Society will be offering shelter to pets through January 10th.  If the freezing temperatures persist, program will be reinstated.

If you would like to donate cash, sheets, blankets and towels to help care for the animals, you can drop them off at the Jacksonville Humane Society at 8464 Beach Boulevard.  You can also call 904.725.8766.
